As a blogger, I love giving and receiving advice. I’ve blogged, off and on, for over four years, and still open myself up for advice to improve. I learn something new in the blogging world every day. While some aspects of blogging are overwhelming, at times, I still wouldn’t trade this hobby for the world. Writing is my passion, and it’s made me who I am today.
With plenty of experience under my belt, I have some advice for those who are new to blogging. I’ve heard lots of advice about blogging, in general, but I have a much-simplified piece of advice for all of you. Something I wish I knew when I began blogging years ago.
My biggest piece of advice for new bloggers is to write down every win, big or small, along your blogging journey. It can be anything from your highest page views, your first email subscriber, anything you have accomplished while blogging. Those small wins will come in handy to remember in the future. I write my victories in my blogging planner, on the day they occurred.
I say this because you will have low view days or a week without subscribers. You will feel defeated because of a negative comment on a post. There will be days you will wonder why you began in the first place. When you feel like giving up, take a look at those victories. Once you look at all your accomplishments, it will give you a boost to keep going. The positives will outweigh the negatives as you keep blogging.
After taking this piece of advice, personally, I’ve seen a different perspective in my blogging journey. I’ve been an optimistic person, but felt discouraged when blogging hit a low. Being able to focus on the wins also helps with planning and reaching goals.
So, find a calendar and write down every victory you’ve achieved thus far. Post it by your desk and when you feel like giving up just refer to it. That will be a friendly reminder for what you have accomplished and keep you motivated.
Whenever you feel like you are in a blogging rut, remind yourself that you are doing an awesome job. Someone out there needs to hear your message. Keep going, you are rocking your journey!
